What We Believe

Bellefonte Church of Christ

Centered on Christ. Rooted in Scripture. Welcoming all who seek Him.

Who We Are

Autonomous, Bible-Guided, Christ-Led

The Bellefonte congregation is an autonomous group of baptized believers who strive to follow and teach the God-breathed, inspired Word. Locally led by elders, served by deacons, and taught by preachers, we meet each Lord’s Day to partake of the Lord’s Supper, give as prospered, pray, sing, and hear the preaching of God’s Word.

Our mission is to encourage a deep relationship with God through Jesus Christ while evangelizing, edifying, and equipping with the Word of God.

Our Distinctives

What Matters to Us

God, His Son, and His Word

God is Creator and sustainer of all life (Genesis 1:1). In love, He gave His Son Jesus for our salvation (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). The Holy Spirit guided the writers to give us the Word of God (John 14:15–16); the Bible provides all we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3; 2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Christ and His Church

Jesus came “to seek and to save” the lost (Luke 19:10) and is the head of His church (Colossians 1:18). We are called to obey Him (Hebrews 5:8–9) and walk by His Word.

How We Respond

Saved by Grace Through Faith

We are saved by God’s grace through faith—responding to the gospel as we:

  • Hear the Word (Romans 10:17) and believe (Hebrews 11:6).
  • Repent of sins (Luke 13:3,5) and confess Jesus (Acts 22:16).
  • Are immersed (baptized) into Christ, contacting His blood and raised to new life (Romans 6:3–5; Galatians 3:26–27).
